"Mites alight! Sunflower pollen for honey bee resistance to Varroa destructor. " is the title of a current research project funded by Project Apis m. with the USDA Beltsville Bee Research Lab (BRL).
Backed with preliminary data and a new paper authored by BRL colleague Dr. Evan Palmer Et al. showing an association between the presence of sunflower acreage and reduced mite loads in colonies, we think beekeepers will be interested in where this project leads.
