PAm in the News-Summer 2022

​Below are a few highlights from a summer that included exciting research updates, special features in the media, unique fundraisers, and more!

• ​​We're doing the waggle dance! Watch Sir David Attenborough share our solution to help pollinators in almonds, Seeds for Bees at 16:30 and 44-minute marks of the full episode* of The Green Planet's "Human Worlds". (*may require PBS membership to watch)​

• Congratulations to Dr. Kaira Wagoner (UNC Greensboro) who is translating years of research into practical solutions for beekeepers and launching a company with her teammate Phoebe Snyder! 

 

• Big shout-out to the National Honey Board for helping honey demand reach an "all-time high" AND donating millions of dollars over the years to support bee health research through Project Apis m. 

 

•  Excited to see this video highlighting the work of Dr. Erika Plettner, and Dr. Steve Pernal who are studying a new chemical that is active against varroa in field trials.                                      

 

• Author and conservationist Justin Weiss donates a portion of proceeds from his children’s book “B is for Beekeeping” to Project Apis m.  

 

• York University PhD candidate, and 2019 PAm Costco Canada Scholars award recipient, Kathleen Dogantzis, recently presented some of her research on honey bee evolution for the webinar series: Bee Biogeography and Systematics Talks.                    

 

• We were excited to be joined again by Dr. Vanessa Corby-Harris this past July for the second webinar on preliminary results from her research entitled: "Towards a More Comprehensive Assessment of Pollen Substitutes." The recording of this event is now available!
